Colorado, Dale, DO, MPH

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Dr. Colorado is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He is also the Assistant Dean for Student Experience in the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. He serves as Chief of Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine, Program Director for the PM&R Residency, Program Director for the Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine Fellowship, and also Medical Director for Performing Arts Medicine. He is also a team physician for UAB Athletics.

Dr. Colorado is board certified in PM&R, sports medicine, brain injury medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine, and neuromuscular ultrasound. He also has certification in musculoskeletal ultrasound. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship at the University of Iowa (Des Moines), his PM&R residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and his Sports Medicine and Interventional Spine Fellowship at Washington University (St. Louis).

Dr. Colorado’s clinical and research interests include musculoskeletal and neuromuscular ultrasound, electrodiagnostic medicine, regenerative medicine/orthobiologics, interventional spine, adaptive sports, and performing arts medicine. He has lectured nationally and authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics related to sports, spine, and musculoskeletal medicine. He has received multiple national awards from the American Academy of PM&R (AAPMR), Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP), North American Spine Society (NASS), American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM), and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
