  • How do I get copies of my UAB Medical West medical record?

    For access to your medical record, please fill out an Authorization For Use or Disclosure of Patient Information and submit to the Health Information Department. Click here for a copy of the form. For more information, please call Health Information Management at (205) 481-7166.

  • Is there a chapel?

    A meditation chapel is located on the third floor. Visitors of all faiths are welcome to visit the chapel for worship, prayer and quiet reflection.

  • Is there a gift shop or pharmacy?

    A pharmacy and Gift Shop is located in the Professional Building Lobby. Operating Hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturdays. The gift shop has gift items, medicine, snacks, books, cards, candy, jewelry, toiletries, flowers and plants. The Gift Shop phone number is 426-3784 or ext 7179

  • What are the visiting hours?

    The visiting hours for routine care patients are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Women's Center visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the exception of spouses or significant others.
    For Intensive Care Unit patients, visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    It is best for there to be no more than 2 visitors at a time

  • Where can I eat while I'm visiting?

    Cafeteria
    The full service cafeteria at UAB Medical West is open daily from 6 am - 10am; 11am-2pm and 4pm-7pm. The cafeteria is open to relatives, guests, visitors and employees and is located on Level C of the Professional Building. The cafeteria accepts cash, debit cards and credit cards. There is also an ATM on the 1st floor of the hospital.

    Vending Machines
    Vending machines for snacks and beverages are located on Level C near the cafeteria and side entrance. There are also vending machines in the third floor in the Surgery Waiting area and the ER of the hospital. They are available 24 hours a day to families and visitors.

     

  • How do I call a patient in the hospital?

    Typically, if you know a patient?s room number, you can find out their phone number. Most patient room telephone numbers begin with (205) 481-7 and then the 3-digit room number. For more information or to locate a patient in the hospital, call information at 481-7000.
