For Patients
In all lots, parking is completely free of charge. Convenient on-campus parking is available at UAB Medical West in several locations. Patients and visitors may park in the flat lot in front of the hospital and enter the building through the main front entrance, or they can park in the first or second floors of the parking deck. If parking in the deck, guests may access the crosswalk to the hospital on the second floor. Paid valet parking is also available and is located at the main entrance. For Visitors
The visiting hours for routine care patients are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Women’s Center visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the exception of spouses or significant others.
For Intensive Care Unit patients, visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
It is best for there to be no more than 2 visitors at a time.
Cafeteria
The full-service cafeteria at UAB Medical West is open daily from 6am – 10am, 11am-2pm, and 4pm-7pm. The cafeteria is open to relatives, guests, visitors, and employees and is located on the first floor. The cafeteria accepts cash, debit cards, and credit cards.
Coffee Shop
There is a coffee shop conveniently located on the second floor.
Vending
The Smart Market vending area is located at the Cafeteria entrance and offers 24/7 vending options. There are also vending machines located in the Emergency Waiting Room.
Typically, if you know a patient’s room number, you can find their phone number. Most patient room telephone numbers begin with (205) 481-7 and then the 3-digit room number. For more information or to locate a patient in the hospital, call information at (205) 481-7000.
Our Chapel is a serene and peaceful space open to all for reflection, prayer, and private worship. We invite you to find solace and comfort here, whether you seek a moment of quiet contemplation or a place to engage spiritual disciplines. If you would like to speak with a Chaplain, please call (205) 481-7359. The Chapel is located on the second floor in the crosswalk behind the Coffee Shop and is open daily from 6:00 am – 8:00 pm.
Our Gift Shop and Retail Pharmacy are located on the first floor of the hospital, directly by Patient Registration and across from our Dining area. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
The Gift Shop has boutique-style gifts, jewelry, cards, medications, toiletry items and fresh flowers. Follow the Gift Shop on social media to stay up-to-date on new arrivals, special promotions and more!
The Retail Pharmacy is located inside the Gift Shop and offers a convenient “Meds to Beds” service. “Meds to Beds” gives patients the option of having their discharge medications delivered directly to their patient room, saving them a stop at the pharmacy on their way home.
