Meet Dr. Jay Fitts, MD: A Leader in Orthopedic Spine Surgery
Dr. Jay Fitts, MD, is an accomplished orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati, where he was recognized for his outstanding commitment to patient care.
Following his residency, Dr. Fitts pursued a prestigious fellowship in spine surgery at Duke University’s Combined Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Spine Fellowship, where he refined his expertise in cutting-edge spinal procedures and innovative surgical techniques.
In his new role as Director of Spine Surgery at UAB Medical West, Dr. Fitts is dedicated to advancing spinal surgical techniques and ensuring the highest level of care for patients suffering from back, neck, and spine conditions.

Dr. Scott Seibert specializes in general orthopedic surgery, offering comprehensive treatment for bone, joint, and muscle conditions. He earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and completed his medical degree at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. Dr. Seibert joined UAB Medical West in 2022 after earning his board certification.
J. Dory Curtis, MD—Total Joint Replacement & Fracture Management
Dr. Dory Curtis is an expert in total joint replacement and fracture management. He completed his medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and continues to prioritize education and professional development as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Erika Issis Vasha, PA-C—Orthopedic Physician Assistant
Erika Issis Vasha, PA-C, obtained her Master of Science in Biotechnology and Physician Assistant certification at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. As a board-certified physician assistant, she works alongside Dr. Curtis, Dr. Fitts, Dr. Rowan, and Dr. Seibert to deliver exceptional orthopedic care.
Patrick Rowan, MD—Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Patrick Rowan specializes in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery, helping athletes and active individuals recover from injuries. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and completed his surgical residency at the University of Missouri. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship at the Andrews Research and Education Foundation in Florida.
